He was born December 20, 1946 in Waynesburg, a son of the late William and Genevieve Nelson Parry.
Ron was a graduate of West Greene High School and of West Liberty State College.
He was a teacher and coach for many years, he taught physical education in Trinity School District for 35 years where he coached football and the rifle team. He was also a hunter education instructor and was a ski club sponsor. He also coached football at Upper St. Clair High School, Washington & Jefferson College, California University of Pennsylvania and McGuffey High School. He impacted many lives throughout his teaching and coaching career.
Ron was an avid hunter and fly fisherman, he enjoyed traveling and has been to every state in the U.S. He loved animals, his family dogs, the neighborhood dog “Charlie” and his grand dogs, Janet and Finn. He also loved taking photos and was a member of the Washington Camera Club.
He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
On May 26, 1973 he married Loma J. Harry, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons and their wives, William (Melissa) Parry of Pittsburgh and Nathan (Kristine) Parry of Washington; three grandchildren, Baker Owen, Callie Lynne and Lucy Jane; two bonus grandchildren, Madison and Jeg Lucas; and a large extended family.
Deceased is a grandson, Theo James “Teddy” Parry; a brother, Roger Parry; a sister in infancy; a niece, Barb Campbell and a nephew, Robb Harry.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 4:00 pm with the Rev. Eric Toohey officiating.
