Sylvia was born in Jasper, graduated from Walker County High School and attended Judson College. She was a can-do lady. She was a den mother, a gardener, a repair woman, a team mom before there were team moms, a proud Walker County/Walker/Jasper Viking fan, and a great Auburn Tiger. She owned a construction company, was a realtor, and volunteered where needed. She belonged to Carousel Investment Club, that due to their buy high and sell low strategy, became a travel club. She loved adventure, traveling, learning and experiencing new hobbies. She bowled, played tennis, golf, bridge, kayaked, hiked, and knitted with the “knit-wits”, yet always took the time to show up well for her family and friends.
Sylvia grew up in Jasper’s First Baptist Church and attended First United Methodist Church of Jasper. She loved Jesus, but more importantly knew Jesus loved her and made sure others knew that as well. She always talked about the angels and blessings in her life. Her family bears witness that she was certainly an angel and a blessing to us.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022, at First United Methodist Church of Jasper at 2 p.m. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Brandon Cain, Patrick Drummond, J Hambric, John Lyon, Al McAdams, Bob Maddox, Tony Sparks, Jim Trotter and Haig Wright.
The family requests that you remember Sylvia however you choose: flowers or donations to First United Methodist Church of Jasper, 1800 3rd Avenue, Jasper, AL 35501 or to the Walker Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 171 Jasper, AL 35502.
