Family will be receiving friends at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home, on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 1 until 2 p.m. Service will follow at 2 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Scott Cemetery. Hollis Alexander will officiate.
Michael was born in the famous TCI Lloyd Noland Hospital, Fairfield, AL and began his first 8 years of childhood in the small mining town of Edgewater, attending Edgewater Elementary School and the Methodist Church. Moving to Forestdale, his family continued in the Fairfield Iron & Steel Works community where Michael attended Dixie Jr High and Minor High School. Continuing with a deep desire to serve his country Michael joined the Military Service. He served proudly in the United States Army with a tour in Germany and retired with Military Disability.
He was a Christian man who loved fishing, music and exemplified a servant’s heart. Mike and his family were charter members of the Forestdale Methodist Church. Michael is survived by his sisters, Diane Chellstorp, Maureen Lawrence (James Sr.) and Debra Hare; nieces, Melissa Byars, Janet Wooten (Jeff), Jana Lawrence, Megan Hare and Kayla Hare; nephews, Chad Chellstorp (Chelsea) and James Lawrence Jr. and many more loving relatives and friends.
