Mary Jane Taylor

June 8, 1941-November 21, 2024

Mary Jane “Janie” Taylor, 83, of Jasper, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Walker Baptist Medical Center. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Hunter’s Chapel Holy Church of Christ Cemetery. Levi Sides will officiate.

Janie grew up on Gardner’s Gin Road, and attended Cordova Schools. She went to nursing school at Bevill State and made it a career for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert “Doc” Taylor; children, Susan Taylor Key and Stephanie “Jill” Taylor; parents, Mose and Peggy Abel; siblings, Ray Abel and Jimmy Abel.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelia Taylor Morrow (Tom); grandchildren, Lynsie Taylor Rhegness (Seth), Nathan Morrow, Russ Morrow, Jennifer Key, Patrick Key; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Jackie Gray (Ocean Sprigs, MS, formerly of Jasper) and Gloria Lovelace (Orange County, CA).

Nurse Bailee you touched our lives in such a special way. No words can adequately express the role you played in Mom’s life and care. Bailee Days were Mom’s favorite! You two were two peas in a pod! You exemplify professionalism and your compassion is unsurpassed. We depended on you for so much! We loved and appreciated you so much. Thank you for being a part of our lives.
