Winston Jelks, 60, died March 19th at his home in Saint Johns, FL following a courageous eight year battle with ALS. He graduated from Garden State Academy in NJ in 1976 and attended the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. Winston was a kind-hearted individual who never met a stranger. He loved to travel and meet new people. Winston enjoyed sports and was a life-long Washington Redskins fan. Winston was a very positive person with the best smile ever!
He is survived by his wife, Connie, and their four-legged best friend, Scrappy. Winston also had deeply devoted extended family in both West Virginia and Maryland. Winston was truly blessed to have army of fiercely loyal friends, whom he dearly loved an cherished their friendship.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, March 22nd in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. A Celebration of Winston's Life will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, March 23rd in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, 11801 San Jose Blvd Jacksonville FL 32223.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Assoication, Heartland Hospice or to your local Humane Society.
