A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, he graduated from Landon High School in 1945. He was the president of his senior class. Soon after graduating he joined the Army Air Corp and served during World War II. He received the World War II victory medal, army of occupation medal and good conduct medal.
He worked for the US Postal Service for 37 years.
He loved camping, especially in the Smoky Mountains. Later he enjoyed traveling all over the United States in his RV with Sara, his beloved wife of 63 years. They also took many fantastic cruises and bus tours. He believed in the importance of giving blood, and he donated 14 gallons over his lifetime.
He was predeceased by his parents, J.W. and Nola Robertson, his brother, John, sisters Betty and Lottie Alice (Keplinger), and his wife Sara. Surviving family members include four children, William Robertson, Jr. (Barbara Copeland), Linda Beaty, David Robertson and Dale Robertson (Melinda). Eight grandchildren, Marcus Robertson (Cortney), Leslie Hill, Shane Robertson (Jake), Cori Parkin (Casey), Erin Shahan (Patrick), Lane Dyer, Alan Robertson (Danae) and Sarena Padilla (Eric). Twelve great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
We would like to thank the staff and especially the nurses at Bartram Lakes ALF for the care they gave our Dad during his last years.
A graveside service for William will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
