his side. Biff (as he was known by family and friends) was born on April 11, 1942 in Jacksonville,
Florida to the late Mary Elizabeth and William David Kemp, Sr. Biff grew up in Jacksonville. He attended The Bolles School, and graduated from Dupont High School in 1960. He went on to attend the University of Florida, later transferring to Jacksonville University on a full scholarship. He graduated with a degree in Business. Biff remained in Jacksonville, beginning a long and successful career in advertising. He married
Gayle Herndon 1968, and together they welcomed and raised two daughters. During these years, Biff was the founding partner of the award-winning advertising agency Caraway and Kemp Communications. Biff and Gayle enjoyed a 27 year marriage until Gayle’s death. Biff found love a second time, marrying Ann Gentry Kemp 1997. They shared their lives until Ann passed away in 2021. Biff enjoyed lifelong friendships, notably on the tennis courts of San Jose Country Club, where he regularly played tennis with close friends throughout his adult life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, a good Bloody Mary, and cheering on the Florida Gators. Biff’s was a life well lived, and he leaves a legacy of loved ones who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his daughters, Janna Kemp Perry and Susan Kemp Smith; stepsons Gentry Wilkerson (Jen) and Jay Wilkerson (Laura); and grandchildren Olivia Smith, Patrick Smith, and Rowan Perry. A celebration of Biff’s life will be held at 4pm on May 2nd at San Jose Country Club. A private, cryptside service will be attended by family at a later date.
