William F. Cannon

William Cannon-“Ole Blue Eyes,” 78, did it his way. Bill, a veteran of US Navy and retiree from the City of Jacksonville, passed away on March 12, 2013 after a battle with cancer. Born in the Bronx and raised in Jersey, Pop lived in Florida but as the adage goes, you can take the man out of Jersey but can’t take the Jersey out of the man. He is preceded in death by his wife Peggy and daughter Vikki Goodwin. His memory will be cherished by sisters Ann Gonzales (Al), Betsy Schultz (Charlie), and Tisha Mindak (Joe); daughters Mae Condra (John) and Barbara Hill (Bobby); sons Bill Sherm, Bob Sherm, and Jerry Goble; grandchildren Frankie Wilson (Sue), Kim Homitz (Scott), Angie Echeverria (Alex), Tori Coker, and Jedidiah Sandoval (Bekka); 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and best friend /co-conspirator Gordon Woodley. A mass will be held on March 16th at 11am in St. Matthew’s Church 1773 Blanding Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
