RICHARDSON: Vernon Allan Richardson, age 56, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, in Middleburg, Florida. Allan was born on October 23, 1962 in Jacksonville, Florida to Vernon and Janie Richardson.
Allan was a loving and dedicated husband of over 32 years, a beloved father, and grandfather. He cherished spending time with his family and loved them dearly. Allan was a Police officer for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office for 20 years. After several years of being a Patrol Officer, he worked as a Detective in missing persons, homicide, and burglary. During his 20 years of service, he received numerous awards such as officer of the month, dedicated service awards, the peer award, and so many more. Most of his career with JSO was spent working as a missing persons detective where he received officer of the year for the state of Florida awarded by then Governor Rick Scott. In addition to his service with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s office, he was also a cherished children’s pastor. Allan began his ministry at Hillcrest Baptist Church for 10 years. He then moved to Riverstone Community Church where he dedicated the last 8 years of his life to the children’s ministry.
Allan is survived by his wife, Lana Richardson and their children Nathan Richardson and Danielle Strella (Zachary Strella). He leaves behind four grandchildren; Kamryn Griffis, Jameson Strella, Kaylyn Strella, and Kathryn Strella. He is also survived by his parents, Janie and Vernon Richardson, his brother, Eric Richardson (Tina Richardson), and his in-laws, Laverne Crews and Grady Helton (Peggy Helton).
We will celebrate Allan’s life and all that he meant to us on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 am, at the Westside Baptist Church, located at 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville, FL. 32218.
