Twyla Shenita Jackson

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the young age of 52, Twyla Jackson, whom we love beyond measure, unexpectedly transitioned to her heavenly home. Determined, driven, and strong in mind, body, and will are just a few words to describe this beautiful spirit-being.

Twyla was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida to Melvin and Trina Johnson. She was the first born of three children, and until the day she took her last breath, she loved and protected her family well. Her loving, protective nature grew in intensity when she bore and raised her three beautiful children. They meant the world to her. Her nieces and nephews are an extension of her, and she loved them as her own. Twyla had a host of friends whom she endeared as family, so much so that the line between family and friends seemed indistinguishable. No matter the title we held in her life, Twyla loved her family and friends unconditionally, and loved spending quality time with them.

Twyla loved God and she loved life. She loved to travel, loved to laugh, loved to serve, loved her church, and loved to work out. Twyla was drawn like a magnet to children and always seemed to have someone else’s child at her home. She epitomized hard work, leadership, diligence, loyalty, acceptance, and dedication. Twyla will be greatly missed by many, and it is with great sorrow that we must lay her body to rest.

Twyla is survived by her mother, Trina Johnson, her four children: Tierra Johnson, Tamir Johnson, Karlos Jackson, Jr., and Jantelle Jackson, (Father: Karlos Jackson); her grandson, Preston Jones; her sister, Anchetta (Juan) Sutton, and brother, Jameyel (Shanese) Johnson, her five nieces and nephews (Anchetta’s children: Josiah and Jeremiah, and Jameyel’s children: Lael, Niya, and Noah), a host of extended family, friends, coworkers, and church family.

In Twyla’s honor, love God, prioritize family, serve others, exercise, be adventurous, laugh often, have courage, stand strong, and don’t do life alone. When we live this way we will keep her memory alive. “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live (John 11:25, NKJV).” We will miss you, Twyla. We’re thankful to have known and loved you, and even more grateful we get to see you again one day. Keep watching over us like you always do. We love you so much. Until we meet again…
