Sue Ann Royal, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2016. She was born October 12, 1932 in Jacksonville, FL to the late William E and Susie Ruth Smith. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, David Royal; three children, Susette Royal Kiernan (Bill), Lanette Royal Wilke and David Royal, Jr.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Edgar Smith (Brenda) and one sister, Sybil Harden and many nieces and nephews. Known as Granny to generations of children, she was a committed Christian and a member of Mandarin Baptist Church. She enjoyed a long nursing career and especially being a Guardian Ad Litem for hundreds of abused and neglected children. She was recognized as Guardian Ad Litem of the year for 1993 by the state of Florida. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the loving care of Community Hospice and for anyone wishing to make memorial gifts in her name to: Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32257. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. in Mandarin Baptist Church, 11244 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL. Interment will take place at Mandarin Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL with a reception to follow at Mandarin Baptist Church.
