Sarah McCarthy Pattillo (“Sassy”), passed peacefully in her sleep July 8, 2016, just prior to her 83rd birthday. Sassy, widow of Charles E. Pattillo, III (“Pat”), leaves behind her two children, Britton Pattillo Howze and Charles E. Pattillo, IV (“Chase”), their spouses, and 4 grandchildren, Quinn, Peyton, Jimmy, and Jessica. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sassy was active in several organizations including the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, the Junior League of Jacksonville, Stokesia Garden Circle, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Jacksonville. She is survived by brother, Edward McCarthy, and younger sister, Deborah McCarthy Adams. Sassy graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in commercial art.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 4129 Oxford Ave., Jacksonville and she will be buried alongside her beloved husband, Pat, at Evergreen Cemetery, 4535 Main St N.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to your local Hospice Organization or St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Arrangements entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel.
