Sara Barlow Shaffer, Age 95 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully in her own home on Sunday, October 10the 2021. She was born Sara Barlow in Statesboro, Georgia on November 22, 1925 to her parents, Thomas and Pearl Barlow.
She graduated from Statesboro High School and later received a Nursing degree from Technical High School in Jacksonville, Florida. She was married to George Shaffer on January 18, 1970 for 42 years. She had a lengthy career in Nursing, working at St Vincent’s Hospital, Hyde Park Nursing Home and lastly Dr. George Trotter for which she was employed for over 20 years. She was a member of the fraternal group, Daughters of the Nile for, many years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW #7909 and Lake Shore Methodist Church. Besides spending time with her family, Sara had a passion for church, travel, dancing and shopping.
Sara was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe P Long and George Shaffer; and sons, Ray and Larry Long.
She is survived by daughters, Carol Osburg and Jana Jolly; stepson, Mark Shaffer; Grandchildren, Jay and Joe Horne and Derek Jolly; and 5 Great Grandchildren, Danielle, Noah, Simone and Asher Horne and Leah Jolly.

The family will received friends at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 5 pm until 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 21,2021 at 10 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
A celebration of life reception will follow the burial at 11 am in the Bistro at the Funeral Home.
