Sandra was born in Waycross, Georgia on June 18, 1949, to Woodrow and Christine Barber.
Sandra loved to spend most of her days in her yard planting different types of flowers. She loved to watch QVC and purchase porcelain baby dolls that she would hand down to her granddaughters. Sandra’s gift was to care for others and ask for nothing in return. She loved to call up her daughters to go to antique stores or find a great deal at a yard sale. She would yell “hit the brakes and turn around” to if she spotted an antique store or yard sale. Although she never worked outside of the home, she had the most important job as a mother. The highlight of her day was when her grandkids came to visit and would raid her fridge. She loved spending hours at the table with her husband putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Woodrow and Christine Barber, 7 brothers; Frank, Robert, Clarence, Edward, Richard, Roy, and Donnie, 3 sisters; Linda, Carolyn, and Irene.
She is survived by her husband Eugene of 57 years, two daughters; Chanan (Timmy), and Tammy (Dusty); three brothers; James, Johnathan, and Jerry, one sister; Julie. four grandchildren; Ashley, Brooklyn (Corey), Deidra, and Allen (Isabella). Six great-grandchildren; Analysa, Elaina, Mason, Riley, Stetson, and Stella, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Sandra devoted her life to her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, nana, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, and friend. Throughout her life, Sandra was known for her sweet smile, kind heart, and unconditional love for those around her.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 4 pm to 5 pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205. The funeral service will begin at 5 pm with Brother George Gossic officiating.
