Ruth McInroy Woods

Ruth McInroy Woods passed away on March 16, 2016 after a long illness at age 93. Born in Brooklet, GA, and raised in Wellsboro, PA, Ruth married James P. Woods, Jr. in December 1942. The couple raised their three children, James III, Sandra and Michael (deceased) in Huntington, WV. At retirement, they moved to Stuart, FL. Ruth’s beloved Jimmy died in September 1982. Ruth enjoyed her numerous friends in Stuart for many years, then moved to Jacksonville, FL, in 2007. She remained independent at Cypress Village until June 2015 when, due to declining health, she moved to the Windsor Assisted Living facility in Orange Park. She loved visits with her extended family. She easily developed close friends throughout her long life. She is survived by son James Woods, Odenton, MD, daughter Sandee Thomas, Jacksonville, FL, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great grandchild. Her cremated remains will be interred at a private service at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, where both her husband, Jimmy and son, Michael, are memorialized. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the Wounded Warriors Project.
