Robert Loren Pennington, 86, passed away on May 2, 2014. He was born in Jacksonville on March 8, 1928 and was a lifetime resident. He always lived his life to the fullest and at age 17 he joined the Navy, proudly serving his country. He enjoyed square dancing, travelling in the motorhome, cruises with his wife and his Wednesday hunting group. Even with all these activities he still found time to be an excellent and loving husband and father. He retired from the Fire Department and also from ILA as a checker. During this time he owned and managed 2 mom and pop stores (11th Street Groceries and 8th Street Sundries) and 2 seafood restaurants (Pennys Seafoods). Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Terri Claypool; his brothers, Ernest, Edis and Arlis Pennington and his sister, Cecil Smith. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jackye Pennington; his daughter, Peggy Barnhart; his step-daughter, Tonia Le Vangi; his step-son, David Eure; his sisters, Mae McCormick and Evelyn Carter; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
