Robert “Chub” Lee Patterson passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2022.
Chubby was born November 3, 1928 in Linville, IL near Jacksonville to Cecil and Beulah Patterson. He grew up with three siblings: Dorothy, Jack, and Raymond. Early in life he fomented a love of athletics and excelled in many sports. This love would follow him throughout his life.
He met the one and only love of his live Patricia (nee Combs) and they eloped with close friends to Arkansas in 1950 where they created a bond that would last 72 years.
He proudly served in the United States Army in the early 1950’s spending time in Germany and France. He returned home to the Jacksonville, IL area to start a family.
Chub supported his beautiful new wife as an expert bricklayer and even built the home that they shared, brick by brick. He used his expertise to help many friends build their own homes as well. He supported his fellow bricklayers with leadership roles in the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local #5.
Two amazing children, Rebecca Lynn (Thorry), and Robert “Bobbo” Allen, blessed Chub and Patsy’s life. Though they precede him in death, their legacies of love live on through Chub’s grandchildren, Kathryn and Elizabeth, and his great grandchildren, Sawyer, Zoe, Violet, Brady, and Riley all whom he cherished.
All who loved him are welcome to honor his life at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Mandarin Chapel 11801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32223 on January 6, 2023 at 3:00 PM.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.hgmandarin.com for the Patterson family.
