friends spent his early days working for the Mason Lumber Company as a truck driver. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School he signed up with the United States Air Force in 1952 and then transferred to the Florida Air National Guard in 1956. He served in the Air Force for 4 years and in the Florida Air National Guard for over 25 years. He served as an Aircraft Mechanic throughout his service and was proud to serve his country. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
In 1956, Bob met his forever at the water cooler at work. He married the love of his life Margaret Jane Rhoden later that same year. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary in September this year. They were an amazing God fearing couple and raised their family to serve the Lord. They were each other’s world and one didn’t go without the other. The names Bobby and Margaret to those who knew them were as common as peanut butter and jelly. They had a rare love for each other that Margaret would often say she got the best.
If he wasn’t with his family, he was at Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene. He loved serving the Lord and was a member of Oak Hill for over 75 years. He was one of the charter members of Mallory Memorial Church when it turned into Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene. He served in multiple positions including Church Board Member, Treasurer, Sunday School Counter and doing handy work around the church but he was most known for his love of the sound booth. In recent years he learned the new technology and hit the arrow key for powerpoint. Every Sunday morning up until early 2021, you could find him in the sound booth of the church monitoring the service.
Bob loved his cats and other various pets. Two of his favorites were Mo and Sheeba and they would go camping with them often. He and Margaret loved camping in their motorhome together with other friends.
Bob also had a love of working puzzles right up until the time of his passing.
