Richard F. “Dick” Perry, age 83, entered into his heavenly home on October 6, 2017. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on October 21, 1933 to Frank H. Perry and Pauline Perry. He was a member of Blanding Boulevard Baptist Church for the past 45 years where he had served faithfully as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and treasurer. He proudly served our country as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. After serving in the Marine Corp., he returned to Jacksonville and began a career in finance and banking with many of those years at Florida National Bank and First Union. He was loved and appreciated by all who knew him and will be missed so very much. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of over 61 years, Faye Perry; his daughter Lynette (Terry) Mattison; son Brent (Charlotte) Perry; sisters Anne Brown, Jeanie Welch, Patsy Hines and Susan Nickles; brothers Gordon Miller, Howard Miller and Jimmy Perry; three grandchildren Tim Mattison (Cassandra), Alaina Mattison, and Megan Pearce (Matt) and four great granddaughters, Paitlynn and Preslie Pearce and Elise and Caroline Mattison. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The celebration of his life will be held at Blanding Boulevard Baptist Church, 5005 Blanding Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida at 10:30 a.m.. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, with military burial at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor David Adair officiating. A special thank you to the special caregivers who helped take care of him and to the tremendous help from our hospice staff these past four months as well as all the many praying friends who prayed for him during this journey.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
