He was born July 2, 1931, the son of the late Daniel H. Moore and Leone Hutson Moore.
He was a native of Pine Bluff, WV and later lived in Idamay, and graduated from Barrackville High School.
He was retired from the U.S. Navy and resided in Jacksonville, Florida for 40 years, where he worked as
an aircraft mechanic at Naval Air Station.
He was a member of the VFW, Post # 7909, and belonged to the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 091.
He never forgot his roots and enjoyed traveling back to WV to visit. He loved fishing, was an avid reader, and loved mechanics. He was well loved by family and respected by everyone who knew him.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor M. Moore; one daughter, Cindy Goodson (David) of Rincon, Georgia; five grandchildren, David Goodson Jr., Robby and Megan Merkle,
Miranda Oliver, and Joshua Goodson; two brothers, Roger G. Moore (Linda), Fairmont, WV, Robert "Bob" Moore, Rivesville, WV; five sisters, Virginia Plymale, Morgantown, WV, Betty Morgan, Four States, WV, Barbara Securro, Fairmont, WV, Shirley Leonard, Fairmont, WV, and Charlene Ribel (Frank), Port Charlotte, Florida; one brother-in-law, Emilio Romano of Jacksonville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Donald, Buddy, Richard, and Barry Moore; and one sister, Pamela Wolfe.
Funeral services were held at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home; Jacksonville, FL ,January 25.
Interment followed in Riverside Memorial Park.
