Naomi was born to Ruth and William Players in Pittston, PA on August 26, 1931. She was the eldest of three siblings and was predeceased by her two brothers William Players (Clara) of West Pittston and Peter Players of Sidney, NY.
Naomi graduated from West Pittston High School where she met her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Morton. They were married on March 12, 1955, at the First United Methodist Church of West Pittston where she was a member.
William and Naomi started their life together in Sidney, NY, where she was employed as a bookkeeper. They attended and were active in the Sidney United Methodist Church. They moved to Jacksonville, FL. in 1984, when William was transferred with the Bendix Corporation. They spent 49 wonderful years together until William passed away in 2004.
Being an accomplished artist in all mediums, Naomi created countless paintings of landscapes, songbirds, and her grandchildren. An avid crafter and seamstress, she fashioned hundreds of old-style mohair teddy bears. Naomi also made clothing, quilts, and other unique crafts. She spent many a night puttering and creating at the kitchen table crafting a variety of items for the Sidney United Methodist Church as well as the Mandarin United Methodist Church craft shows.
Thanks to her involvement in arts and crafts, Naomi made many friends and was able to share her skills with others. Naomi and Bill enjoyed being with family and made many visits to Sidney NY, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut to visit their sons, daughters-in-law, granddaughters and other family members.
Naomi is survived by her three sons, William (Betsy) of Sidney, NY., Roger (Kelly) of Jacksonville, FL. and Philip (Debra) of Jacksonville FL.; granddaughters, Somer (Brendan Coyle), Marissa (Jeff D'Amore) and Hailey and Emily Morton; great-grandchildren Benjamin and Charlotte Coyle (Somer) and Julian and Maddax D'Amore (Marissa), sister-in-law Marilyn Players of Sidney, NY., as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Naomi will be sorely missed, but we are thankful that she is where she belongs, together with the love of her life, Bill, and surrounded by the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, and all her precious family and friends who went before her.
Services will be held Saturday, November 4th at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church of West Pittston, 408 Wyoming Ave, West Pittston, Pennsylvania.
