Nancy Stitt, 77, passed away February 21, 2018 after a year- long battle with cancer. She is survived by husband of 57 years, Tom Stitt, a son, Charles Stitt, Jr., a daughter, Patricia Monroe (David), 3 grandchildren, Kristin Hecht, Christopher Stitt and Lauren Stitt. She also leaves behind extended family and many special friends.
She was born in Wyoming, Pennsylvania on May 31, 1940 and her family moved to Jacksonville in her late teens. She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a RN and worked in various local hospitals. She then joined Florida Blue until retirement. Her favorite position in nursing was in pediatric oncology. She also did volunteer work at Baptist Hospital and Assumption Catholic Church. In her later life she graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing degree from UNF, enjoyed square and round dancing and was a member of the Reflections Demo Dance Team. She enjoyed traveling both in North America and abroad. She became a master quilt maker and did a lot of embroidery work. Spending time with her children, family and friends was her most favorite pastime. She will live on in the memory of the people her life touched.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens, The Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207. Memorial contributions may be made to NE Florida Community Hospice.
