The Solloway Family deeply mourns the passing of Dr. Michael Lewis Solloway, 3.20.1938 – 1.13.2021. Survived by former wife, Bonnie L. Solloway and their children Crystal L. (Darin) VanGundy and Stephen K. (Courtney) Solloway. Predeceased by his beloved brother Andrew A. Solloway. In an instant, an accidental fall changed our lives forever.
Northeast Florida has lost a brilliant and tireless Mental Health advocate. Dr. Solloway helped found Behavioral Health Services at Baptist Health, and became the first medical director for Psychiatry. Dr. Solloway was currently Geriatric Psychiatrist at Baptist Health’s AgeWell Center, for which he helped develop the Geriatric Psychiatry program.
His volunteer service ran deep, serving many local agencies including MHA of NE Florida, JAMI, NAMI, YCC, WeCare, Daniel Memorial, Florida’s Children First, St. Augustine Youth Services and various Jewish agencies and boards including Jewish Federation and Foundation of NE Florida. A former USAF Captain, he got his degree from The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He also started several grass-roots support groups for families struggling with Mental Illness.
