Michael Don Richey Sr.

December 1, 1946 – July 16, 2019

Michael D. Richey, Sr., 73, of Jacksonville, FL was born on December 1, 1946 in Irwin, PA, son of the late Louis and Eleanor Justice Richey.

Michael attended Hempfield High School, Greenburg, PA and continued his education at Waynesburg University, Accounting major; Biology minor in 1968. In 1979 he obtained his MBA, Finance at Rider University. On October 12th, 1968 he married his wife, Linda. In January 1969 he was drafted/enlisted in the US Army for a four-year hitch, including one year in Vietnam obtaining the Commemorative Honor and Purple Heart medals.

Michael’s finance career began at NJ National Bank in 1972 holding various roles such as Corporate Budgets Director, Manager of Technologies. Director of Financial Systems (to name a few) at UJB Financial Corp in Princeton, NJ. Thereafter, he consulted at General Electric (TIPS Division) and with NationsBank converting the general ledger/financial control system (FCS) for the Barnett Banks transition. His last career leg was with Bank of America in Jacksonville, Fl. He started as Senior Project Manager within the Consumer Finance Group and retired after 16 years of service as VP Technology & Operations. During his time with BofA he managed project work for Banking Center Technology covering Bank of America, FleetBoston, MBNA and Merrill Lynch transitions as well as AML project work for Compliance Risk Management. He provided subject matter consulting and service delivery management services in the GCSBB AML compliance space (that was a mouth full, lol). To say the least, he loved what he did, those he worked with and for, and took great pride in his career achievements.

Michael was an avid member of the Trenton Cyrus Lodge # 5 to include Lodge officer for 39 years as well as the Scottish Rite.

Michael is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda G. Richey; his children Candida M. Pangaldi and husband Chris; Michael D. Richey, Jr. and wife Lara and; Paul E. Richey and wife Amber; and Brian J. Richey and wife Kristin. He also has seven grandchildren: Zachary, Gianna, Calin, Melanie, Ava, Jaxon, and Ella.

Michael had a love of camping, collecting trains, and spending time with his family. He was known for his quick wit of one-liner statements, and his sarcasm kept everyone on their toes! He will be truly missed.
