Mary Elizabeth Compton Darby Sanci, 71, died from injuries sustained in a tragic automobile accident on May 10, 2021. Her loss was completely unexpected, and the family is shocked and devastated. Were it not for our faith we may be found hopeless; but we know she was not afraid of dying because she knew where she was going! Her one wish, that in dying she did not suffer, was honored by the God she so faithfully served.
Beth was born in Greenwood, SC to Marion Mobley Compton and Mary Joyce Buchanan Compton on August 23, 1949. She graduated from Beaufort High School, Beaufort, SC, in 1967 in the top 5% of her class and then attended University of South Carolina Beaufort Campus. Many of the friendships formed during those years are sustained today.
She moved to Kentucky in late 1968 where she later married and had her son Ward Bradley Darby in 1971. They moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1980 where she began a 25 year career in the mortgage industry. She retired as a Vice President of Homeside Lending in 2005.
She began a second career as a real estate agent with Watson Realty from 2006 to 2012. She retired but continued as a referral agent while volunteering her time at Baptist Hospital. In 2015, she returned to Watson as an agent assistant and transaction coordinator.
Beth is predeceased by her parents and her loving nephew Jason, who ran ahead to heaven in 2019. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 21 years, Bruno Sanci; her loving son and light of her life, Brad Darby (Sandi Fry, fiancé); brother, Emmett Compton (Melanie), sister Audrey Stefanowitz (Bill), sister Fran Goodbread (Robert), brother-in-law Frank Sanci (Donna), sister-in-law Liz Sanci Cognat (Robert), four nephews, six nieces, numerous grand nieces and nephews as well as beloved cousins, friends and coworkers.
Beth was kind, compassionate and she was beautiful inside and out. Her laughter was infectious. She had a warmth where you just knew you were loved! Her animated storytelling is famous and will be sorely missed at family gatherings. She never tired of recounting stories to make us laugh and we never tired of hearing.
She loved deeply and was loved deeply and will be deeply grieved by all who knew her. While impossible to sum up such a beautiful person in just a few paragraphs, we do hope you’ll take time to sign the guestbook and tell us some of your own favorite things about our beloved Beth.
