Mary Jo Tyler Horne, age 88, died on Friday, October 29, 2021, in Franklin, Tennessee. Jo was born on January 2, 1933, in Macon, Georgia to Carrie Mae and Judge Egbert Tyler. Jo and her husband, Thomas A. Horne lived in Orange Park, Florida for forty plus years. During her time in Orange Park, Jo served as president of the Orange Park Medical Center Auxiliary and then as the president of the Salvation Army of Clay County. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Orange Park and the Senior Women’s Sunday School Class.
Mary Jo Horne is survived by one son, Terrell T. Horne; two daughters, Kim Horne Frank (R. Horton Frank, III) and Leigh Horne Mebel (Roger L. Mebel); three grandchildren, (Sarah Noble Frank, Elizabeth McElveen Horne, and Joseph Tyler Horne), and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville on Monday, November 8, 2021, at 11:00am with the Reverend Butch Jerrell presiding. Visitation will begin at 9:30am at the Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32205.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Salvation Army of Clay County.
