Mary Jo Brinkman, of Jacksonville, Florida, age 85, passed away on May 17, 2018 in Orange Park, Florida. Mary Jo was born on January 12, 1933 to Royal Spear Valentine and Elizabeth Love Valentine in Cumberland, Maryland. She attended high school at Fort Hill High School in Cumberland and graduated in 1951. Mary Jo retired from BellSouth / AT&T after 35 years of dedicated service. She was a longtime faithful member of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, member of the Catholic Council of Women serving as president, secretary, and treasurer. She was also involved in the Knights of Columbus and served in the Ladies Auxillary. Mary Jo also served as president of the Wives Club for the United States Navy during her husband's, William Brinkman, service to the United States Navy. She enjoyed travel, primarily cruises, and also lived in Naples, Italy for 3 years. Mary Jo was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary Jo is preceded in death by her husband, William Brinkman, one daughter Karlyn Kay Buser, and one brother Jim Kelly. She is survived by her loving children Joy Wood and Bryan Brinkman; grandchildren Dale Wright, Stephaine Wright, Tracy Tilson, Erin Ennis, Christina Chavez, Nathaniel Ennis, and Olivia Sheeks; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and again from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home ,7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32205.
