Marvin Irving Sherman passed away May 26, 2017. Marvin was born in Live Oak on June 20, 1927 to Charlotte and Charles Sherman. Raised by Sophie and Ben Fleet, Lakeland, and Annie Sherman, Daytona. Marvin was married for 64 years to his beloved Beatrice Weiss Sherman who passed in 2016. Family members include his children June and Bobby Shenkman, Karen Turkat, Bradley Sherman and preceded in death by beloved sons Mitchell Sherman and David Turkat, grandchildren Drew and Patty Shenkman, Jeffrey and Deborah Shenkman, Phillip Turkat, great grandson Brody Shenkman, sisters Ann Unitan, Rosalie Byer, Shermy and Jerry Rudderman, cousins, nieces and nephews. Marvin attended University of Florida where he was a Pi Lamba Phi. Bea and Marvin owned Liberty Furniture, one of Jacksonville's finest home furnishing operations.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Monday, May 29, 2017 at Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, followed by interment at New Center Cemetery, 43rd and Liberty Streets. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marvin's memory may be made to the Jacksonville Jewish Center or River Garden Hebrew Home.
