After losing her mother as a young child, Margie and her 3 siblings were raised by her father and step-mother, living in different cities in Florida. When she turned 16, she moved back to Jacksonville to live with her grandmother. She always credited her precious grandmother with encouraging her to be the wonderful person that she became. She started her career at Southern Bell at 16, going to work after school each day. Prior to retirement, she was an Executive Secretary with Southern Bell for 40 years and had been a Realtor in Jacksonville for 30 years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville for many years and the Telephone Pioneers of America. But her greatest legacy was her love for the Lord, her family (especially her granddaughters), and many special friends.
She is survived by her beloved fiancé, James Williamson of Jacksonville, FL., three sons, Kenny Summers (Donna) of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Ron Summers (Jan) of Jacksonville and Robert ‘Bobby” Wayne Summers of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Angie, Cassidy, Tiffany and Savannah and two great-grandchildren, Macy and Landon.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hogan Baptist Church, 8045 Hogan Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32216, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM.
Interment will be at the Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church, 124 W. Ashley St., Jacksonville, FL 32202, specifying the Ortega Senior Adult Ministry.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery.
