Margaret Cormeny (Meg) O’Brien passed away peacefully on 5/19/2017 in Jacksonville, Florida where she lived for the past 5 years in Westminster Woods/Vickers Landing. Born on April 25, 1942 in Philadelphia PA to George Franklin Cormeny, M.D. and Lucille Ellithorp Cormeny. She graduated from The Baldwin School, Bryn Mawr, PA, from Mount Holyoke College with a B.A., the University of Pennsylvania with an M.A., and Cornell University with a Ph.D. For 25 years she served as a Demographer in the Boston Redevelopment Authority. Her analysis was key to overturning the de facto segregation of the Boston schools by its School Board. Subsequently, she worked in consumer research for AT&T and several boutique research firms in Boston including Chadwick Martin Bailey and Edlund Mulcrone. She resided in Belmont, Massachusetts for over 40 years where she served as a volunteer on numerous Town committees and the Unitarian Universalist Church. She is survived by her sons Thomas Peter O’Brien of Saint Johns, FL and Robert H.N. O’Brien of Stamford, CT, and her grandsons Timothy O’Brien, Benjamin O’Brien, and Jonathan O’Brien of Saint Johns, FL and Matthew Recalde of Stamford, CT. Memorial service will be held in Jacksonville on Friday May 26th at 2:30 at the Auditorium at Westminster Woods. Located at 25 State Rd 13, St Johns FL 32259. Reception afterword. Burial will be private at Belmont Meadow Cemetery on June 9th and reception will be held at First Church in Belmont Unitarian Universalist in Belmont, MA on June 10th at 11:00 am.
