Mamie Esther Bennett

BENNETT Mamie Esther Bennett, 89, passed away on Saturday morning May 8th,2009 in Jacksonville. Mrs. Bennett was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and had lived in Jacksonville for more than 70 years. She was retired from St. Luke's Hospital. She had a strong and devoted love of family, cats and small dogs. Mamie enjoyed being outside among her beautiful flowers and lush garden. Mrs. Bennett will be greatly missed by her large family and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her children, George Durden, Lawanna Dixon and Brenda Miller, her parents and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include daughters, Linda Clemons (Buddy), Sheila B. Robinson (Joe), Sandra Schroeder, Janice Salem and Tammy Allison (Peter); step-son, Bobby Bennett; sisters, Ruth Elmore, Jeanette Pilgrim (Pat), Audrey Landon, Juanell Dyal (Paul), Willene Dobbs (Steve), Yvonne Pherel, Doris Swain (George) ; brothers, Wallace Brown, Charles Taylor (Carol), Aaron Brown (Sylvia), BF Brown (Pat), Randy Brown and Carl Brown (Nickie); special friends, James Kesterson and William Royal; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday May 13th in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. with entombment to follow in Arlington Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 12th from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at The funeral home.
