After graduation, Mr. Moody joined the United States Navy, serving some of that time on the U.S.S. Saratoga. He retired after 20 years of service. He then moved his family to Jacksonville, Florida where he worked for JTA retiring in 1999 after 23 years. Mr. Moody was a member of Hart Haven Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Choir Director, and Sunday School Teacher.
Mr. Moody was predeceased by his wife, Marie Moody, a son, Keith Moody, three sisters, Margaret Royal, Mary King, and Nellie Barrineau. One brother, Charles T. Moody. He is survived by a brother, Carlton Moody (Joyce), Huntsville, Alabama, a son, Kevin Moody, Jacksonville, FL, one daughter, Karen Moody, Jacksonville, FL, one grandson, Justin Travis (Leigh), Norman, Oklahome, one granddaughter, Callie Moody, Middlebury, Indiana, and one great-granddaughter, Belynda Marie Travis.
A visitation for Lawrence will be held Monday, February 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM. A committal service will occur Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
