Larry was born October 1, 1963, in Philadelphia, PA to Bill and Wanda Fairman. He graduated from Interboro High School in 1981 where he excelled in academics, athletics and music. He was accepted as a piano major to Jacksonville University. He was a member of and served as President of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Larry was a proud JU Dolphin and is the recipient of their Outstanding Communications Alumnus. Larry was an avid Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and 76ers fan.
Larry and Christine married on Sunset Key in April of 2000 and continued to live, work and play together for many years in Atlantic Beach, FL. Larry was passionate about his family. He coached his children’s soccer and basketball teams while they were young and attended most events as they got older. He was a voracious reader and taught them everything he knew about books and music. Larry was a loving, proud and devoted husband and father that will truly be missed.
Professionally, Larry was a well-known strategist that has helped countless organizations, businesses and people develop powerful strategic plans, brand identities, marketing plans, creative and technical programs and more. He participated in the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 1994 and co-founded the JU Athletic Foundation. Larry has been a chairman, executive committee member and trustee of over two dozen nonprofit and community organizations including Level the Playing Field Leadership Academy and the Talent Advancement Network.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Christine Ottenstroer Fairman; daughter, Gentian M. Fairman (23); son, Gunnar O. Fairman (21); brother, Dave (Tish) Fairman and sister, Sue (Jim) Gargel. He is preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Operation New Hope, Level the Playing Field or Boys & Girls Club/The Bridge.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held in the coming weeks.
