Joyce Alicia Parsons

On Monday, January 9, Joyce A Parsons, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away at 62 years of age at UF Gainesville FL Hospital. Joyce was born on September 1, 1960 in Atlanta, Georgia; then came to reside in Cairo, Georgia then later Jacksonville, Florida. She enjoyed an iced cold Coca’ Cola, shopping, jewelry, and cruising, to name a few. More than anything, she loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Joyce was born to William and Marcline Norton. She was the youngest of four sisters. Her surviving sisters, Elsie Perez (Gonzalo, Husband) of Cleveland, Georgia and Nancy Sutherland of Cedartown Georgia. Her sister Minnie Lenn Gassett (Levon, Husband) passed away just a year ago.

Joyce became Mrs. Parsons on April 1, 1989 to husband, John D. Parsons and they spent 33 wonderful years together. Also, she has two children, William Grant King lll, of Jacksonville Florida, and Alicia N. Parsons, of Jacksonville Florida.

Joyce was affiliated with the Pine Level Baptist Church of Cairo, Georgia.

While attending school she participated in the FFA (Future Farmers of America) and played for her high school band, in the percussion section. She then went on to work for various companies as an office manager/bookkeeper.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 1pm at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.
