John (Jack) Sanford Bird, Jr., age 53 of Jacksonville, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at home, of natural causes. He was born on July 2, 1962 in Trenton, New Jersey and attended Assumption Catholic School and Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville. Jack was very involved with the San Jose Athletic Association where his boys played baseball, including being a Board Member.
Jack is predeceased by his father, John Sanford Bird, Sr. and his nephew, Garrett Monroe Jones. He is survived by his sons, Troy D. Bird and John R. Bird; his mother, Eleanor K. Bird; his sister, Jennifer C. Jones; nieces, Brittany K. Jones, and Kelsey A. Jones; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20th 2016 with Vigil Prayers at 6:00 p.m. in Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel located at 4115 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville FL 32207. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 21st in Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd. Jacksonville, with Father Jose Panthaplamthottiyil as Celebrant, followed by interment in Oaklawn Cemetery.
