John Whitman Hayes

John W. Hayes, 80, passed away October 8, 2010. He was born on August 13, 1930 and was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, FL. John was employed at NAS Jax as an Aircraft Electrician. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He provided artillery support to the 1st ROK infantry Division in 1950 and ’51. John was also a member of the American Legion. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lula; sons, Steven and David (Erlinda) ; brother, Oscar (Jean M.) Hayes; sisters, Sallie Music and June Buck; grandchildren, Justin, Johnny and Jennifer. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, October 11, 2010 in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 5753 Blanding Blvd., 777-5727.
