John D. Carter, Sr., age 65, died peacefully at home on Saturday August 18, 2018 after a lengthy illness. He was born January 31, 1953 in Pensacola, FL. John loved being with family and adored his two grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. John worked in graphic design and engineering for several companies in the Jacksonville area. He enjoyed fishing, shrimping, and collecting shark’s teeth. He was an avid sports fan and was particularly fond of his Florida Gators. John’s grandchildren, who affectionately called him Puga, wrote the following eulogy:
From the time he was born to the day he died, Puga always brought smiles to others. Puga could always turn someone into a wonderful mood by just hanging out with them. Not only was Puga the sweetest person, but he had many talents such as finding sharks teeth. He could probably find 10 in a split second and even found several megladon teeth. His craftsmanship is a true work of art. He can make anything, I mean anything, you can think of. Oh, not to mention, but he also found the PERFECT wife (Nana). She had full kindness towards Puga, they were basically two peas in a pod. They had a great life together and then came along our Dad and their lives filled with even more joy. Puga’s life went from great to AMAZING! Boy was he a wonderful father, he helped teach our Dad, he coached our Dad in sports and loved him very dearly. After a while our Dad got married to our Mom. They had Nolan and then a few years later had Noelle making Puga a Grandfather. He was such a great grandfather he made sure to care for us whenever he had a chance. He loved us very much too. But all in all, Puga lived a life full of memories, joy and happiness!
