Jessie Shores Booth

On Friday, June 10, 2022, Jessie Shores Booth departed for her heavenly home at the age of "39." Born on April 5, 1935 in Marianna, Florida to Ola Shores, she was raised with her two older sisters--Mary Lee Yon and Myrtice Flora. She married her high school sweetheart, James Booth, and they relocated to Jacksonville, FL. It was in Jacksonville that they made a life for themselves, raising their daughter, Debra Booth Quigg. Jessie worked over 20 years at Bell South and retired as one of their top in sales. Jessie and Jim led a life of service through the Shriner's Temple in Jacksonville. After Jim's passing, Jessie continued to serve the widows of passed Shriners, known as the Sweethearts. She was also a dedicated member of her church, Baymeadows Baptist Church.

Jessie was known for her long phone calls to family and friends, her love of pink, her extensive sexy shoe collection, and the occasional prank she would pull on her nephews. She will be remembered for the glamorous way she lit up a room, how she was always the first person to call at the crack of dawn to wish you a Happy Birthday, the way she opened her home on Thanksgiving to all so no one ever celebrated alone, her fried chicken picnic dinners down at The Swamp, and her dedication to her Sweethearts.

Jessie is preceded in death by her mother, Ola, sisters Mary Lee and Myrtice, husband, James, daughter, Debra, and many cousins and friends. She is survived by 2 granddaughters, 2 great grandchildren, 2 bonus great grandchildren, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and an extended family and group of friends who love her dearly.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, June 21 from 4-6pm at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Legacy Lodge, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Jessie will be laid to rest in a graveside service on Wednesday, June 22 at 10:00am at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
