Jean graduated from Jackson High School in 1951 and received a nursing degree in 1954 from St. Vincent Hospital. She then graduated from Sacred Heart in Pennsylvania as a nurse anesthetist. She was the chief of the nurse anesthetist department for twenty years at the old Duval Medical Center which became the University of Florida Shands Division.
She was well loved by her family. She was always known as the one to give herself to others. Jean was a gourmet cook, a great hostess and a mentor to her family. She was a world traveler, but especially loved Alaska and Las Vegas.
Jean is predeceased by her mother, Marie Carden and her father Abraham Safar and her brother Lewis Safar. She is survived by her nephews Steve (Marasol), John (Jerri) and niece Judy. She has numerous cousins who loved her and will surely miss her. There is a hole in our hearts now. She was the one that was always there in times of need. She loved her family unconditionally; her life was centered around her family. There is a deep love for her.
