Janet M. McCutcheon passed away at Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, Florida on November 18, 2019 at the age of 85. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Reverend James N. McCutcheon. Janet is survived by her son James and his wife Barbara, her daughter Janet and her husband Ted, and her son George and his wife Joanie, as well as six grandchildren, Teddy, Janet Nicole, Nathan, Nicholas, Grace and Madison. She is remembered for being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and friend to so many people. Janet graduated from Tufts University and subsequently received her Physical Education Degree from Bouve-Boston School. She taught P.E. at Smith College and was the women’s tennis coach at Western Michigan University and assistant women’s tennis coach at the University of Minnesota. Janet was an accomplished tennis and platform tennis player who won many gold balls, mother-daughter titles, and was inducted into the USTA Northwestern Tennis Association Hall of Fame. After retiring on Cape Cod she enjoyed playing golf and being a member of the Cummaquid Golf Club. A celebration of her life is being planned for next summer on Cape Cod at St. Christopher’s Church in Chatham, MA.
