James Richard Moore Sr.

Born April 6, 1934, in Calhoun, GA, Dick graduated from Lee High School in Jacksonville and entered the Army in 1954 where he served in Okinawa, Japan and played Army baseball. Following an honorable discharge, he attended the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and graduated with his Juris Doctor in 1960. A member of the Florida Bar for more than 50 years, he was a partner in firms including Mathews, Osborne, Ehrlich and McNatt; Corrigan, Werber & Moore; Moore, Smith & Moore and Rahaim, Watson, Dearing, Berry & Moore where he served as Of Counsel before his retirement in 2005. He was a distinguished member of The American College of Trial Lawyers and The American Board of Trial Advocates.

A die-hard fan of the Florida Gators, long-time member of the Seminole Club of Jacksonville, avid reader and history buff, Dick is remembered by his friends and family for his quick wit, good humor and extensive memory of historical events.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret McNatt Moore, and their three sons, James Richard Moore Jr (Deborah), John Light Moore (Tina), and William Mathews Moore (Cathi), as well as, seven grandchildren including Kyle (Amy), Trevor, Turner, Kailyn, James Richard III, Brooke and Sara.

A graveside service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, in Jacksonville on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Durwood Foshee, Superintendent, Northeast District at Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church will be the funeral officiant.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Community Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation or the McNatt Scholarship Fund at Southside Methodist Church.
