James Vernon Estes Jr.

James Vernon Estes Jr., 76, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born February 13, 1942 to James and Juanita Estes Sr. in Jackson, TN. James was an avid golfer and loved to play golf whenever and wherever he could. He also collected model cars, enjoyed fishing as well as spend as much time as he could with his family. James was enthusiastic about attending church and when he couldn’t, he would watch it on TV. He is preceded in death by his parents James Vernon Estes Sr. and Juanita Chumley. James is survived by his wife of 40 years Marian, his children Heather Hodshon (Tony Hobbs), Rebecca (Mack) Andrews, Hope Estes, Angy (Greg) Smith, Michael Estes, Shane Estes, grandchildren Hailey, Alexis, Jacob, Craig, Daniel, Sydney, Evelyn, Sabrina, Olivia, two sisters Linda (Danny) Blankenship, Patricia Wisdom as well as several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held for friends on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Celebration of life to be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 10:00am with interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218 at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
