James Donald Baker

James Donald Baker, age 80, passed away on May 29, 2017. He was born in Marshall County, WV on September 25, 1936, the oldest child of the late Frank and Mary (Emory) Baker. Jim served in the US Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate. After his active duty, he went into the electrical field and retired from Jacksonville Electric Authority. Jim attended Crown Point Baptist Church. Jim’s love of dancing led him to memberships with Florida Boppers, First Coast Shag Club and Club Savoy. He also enjoyed Nascar, Football and traveling. Jim is survived by his wife of 11 years, Rita M. Baker; son, Andy Sweat (Mary); Daughters, Linda LiBrandi (John) and Karen Lewis (Steve); sisters, Loretta Conner (Obert) and Sandra Shaffer (Gene); grandchildren, Heather Nikoncyk, Tara Clendenen, Lauren LiBrandi, Jeremy Sweat, Taylor Sweat, Evan Sweat, Cole Lewis and great grandchildren, Lyric Golden and Landon Sweat. Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Baker; sisters, Judy Fosanni and Mary Nice; and brother, John Baker. Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 11 at 1 p.m. in Club Savoy, 6354 Arlington Rd, Jax, Fl 32211. Inurnment will take place in Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
