Gwendolyn Myra Herndon

Gwendolyn Myra Russell Herndon, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 12, 1938 to the late Josephus Russell and Margaret Jane Hairston. She departed this temporal life to a life eternal on February 27, 2018.

Gwendolyn began her education in the Pittsburgh public school system. Gwendolyn worked for many years in the Radiology Department for Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

She invited Christ into her life at a very young age in Pittsburgh, and rededicated her life in to the Lord in 2004 at Living Faith Christian Church in Pennsauken, New Jersey.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred Herndon; and brothers, Joseph Russell (Denise) and James Russell; and two sisters, Francis Marshall and Donna Russell.

Gwendolyn leaves behind three daughters to mourn her passing and celebrate her life: Denise C. Herndon Harvey (Junius), Karen Herndon Gordon, and Stephanie A. Herndon; seven grandchildren: Sequaya Gordon, Shasta Gordon, Brianna Gordon, Junius Harvey III (Jasmine), Shereena Harvey, Cameron Grier, Cayden Grier; eight great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, as well as friends and extended family. She will be missed in her natural earthly existence, but will forever and always remain in our heart and memories.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Florida Christian Chapel, 1115 Edgewood Avenue South, Jacksonville, FL 32205.

HARDAGE-GIDDENS, EDGEWOOD CHAPEL, 729 S. Edgewood Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32205, is serving the family.
