Glynn W. Thomas Jr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 20, 1945, to Vivian and Glynn Thomas, Sr. Glynn passed away at Community Hospice on October 2, 2022, at 77 years of age. After high school, Glynn enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served his country honorably and nobly on the USS Glennon during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal.
After being Honorably Discharged, he worked in a variety of outside sales positions including District Manager for institutional chemical sales at DuBois Chemicals and Parish Consultant for J.S. Paluch, a Catholic parish services and communications company. He retired in 2015.
Glynn was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was the Lead Usher for the Saturday evening mass for many years. He was an active member of the Holy Family Men's Club and served several times as the Vice President for this organization. Glynn was active in the Deerwood community and was in charge of security for the community for over 15 years. He loved to golf and spend time with the many friends he made in his life. Glynn had an engaging smile and was known as the "life of the party." Everyone loved his sense of humor, positive attitude, and willingness to help anyone in need.
Glynn is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Beverly, and his best friend, Logan, a two year old Doberman Pinscher. He is also survived by his two sisters, Barbara and Kathy, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on October 10, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with a viewing prior to the Mass beginning at 10 a.m. A private interment will be held in Cleveland, Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and Jacksonville Humane Society.
A visitation for Glynn will be held Monday, October 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9800 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, FL 32256, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 AM.
