Born in 1944 to Adelore and Rozella Beaupre in Chicago, IL. He was educated at St Patrick High School in Chicago and graduated from
St Joseph College in Rensselaer, IN where he met his wife Sheila. They were married a year later in Mansfield, Ohio at St Peter Catholic Church. They were happily married for 54 years.
He was in the Army National Guard in Chicago and Ft Lauderdale and was Honorably discharged as a Warrant Officer after 12 years of service.
He was a devout Catholic, active in several church ministries, including the Music Ministry where he could express his love of God through music, his bass voice was easily recognized. He also enjoyed his time in the Barbershop Chorus, and the many wonderful men he sang with.
Glenn was always involved in his children’s activities. He loved Baseball and shared that with his boys by being active with the local Little League in the Pembroke Pines Optimist Club as President, coach, and umpire.
Glenn’s wife, Sheila, a Girl Scout forever, joined Glenn, Colleen and their sons David and Brian, on many camping trips, their favorite being Thanksgiving weekend with many families from their Marriage Encounter family. If they weren’t in the woods, it really wasn’t Thanksgiving. One of Colleen’s friends told her “Your dad was a super, kind, and loving dad, he got such a kick out of watching you and your friends. I always got the impression your parents enjoyed watching us have fun.”
Glenn was a wonderful gardener who enjoyed and shared the fruits of his labor with everyone. He loved growing strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, etc., but you would never find any kind of squash in his garden. He built a small greenhouse at the house to nurture new plantings and ripen pineapples so the raccoons didn’t get to them first.
Glenn became an avid bee keeper, anxious to share the honey with his friends and family. Thank you to his son David, who encouraged him to start his own hives. His hive will carry on in David’s yard since Sheila only wants to enjoy the honey, a beekeeper she is not.
His “man cave” was where the carpenter in him came alive making many treasures, from shelves to king sized headboards, cradles, tables and Hurricane shutters for his son’s home. He shared all of these with friends and family.
Glenn was in awe of the world God created and enjoyed traveling the world taking in all of its beauty, always different, always wonderful. He loved fishing from his early childhood, being on the water, off shore ocean fishing was one of his favorite things to do. He got joy from a day of fishing, not necessarily catching. He was happiest with just time spent with his family on the water.
Glenn’s life was filled with good friends, good food, good wine, and good beer. An excellent scotch was always shared amongst them. Here’s a toast to Glenn.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Adelore and Rozella Beaupre; his brother Robert Beaupre; his nephew Bobby Beaupre; brother-in-law Robert Curcio; father and mother-in-law James J. Sr. and Ann Marie McBride; brother-in-law James J. “Jamie” McBride Jr.
