Born July 23, 1946 in Sanford, NC, she was the daughter of the late Juanita Johnson Cato and Rev. Harold Eugene Cato. She was preceded in death by her sister, Renee Cato Preston.
She was a graduate of Sanford Central High School (1963), UNC - Greensboro with a B.A. in Piano Performance (1970) and also attended Lee University in Cleveland, TN, and UNC - Chapel Hill.
As a pianist and teacher, she brought music and joy into the lives of countless people. She was the founding piano teacher at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts where she was loved by many. She also enjoyed travel, cats, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Jacobs of Jacksonville, FL; son, Jeffrey M. Miller (Crystal) of Eau Claire, WI; brother, David Cato of Spartanburg, SC; niece, Nicole (Nikki) Preston; grandson, Jade; step-children, David, Jeffrey, Kathy; their children, Hays, Haley, and Hannah, and grandchildren, Summer, Sky, and Indigo.
A celebration of life is planned for Summer, 2025 in Jacksonville, FL with forthcoming details.
