Frederick William Dougherty Sr.

The family of Frederick William Dougherty, Sr. sadly announces the passing of our beloved Father. Frederick was born on August 11, 1944. He passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023. Frederick was a long term resident of Jacksonville, Florida and retiree of CSX Railroad as a switchman. He is survived by his wife Margaret Williams Dougherty; his son, Frederick William Dougherty Jr. and his wife Kelly Dougherty; and his daughter Pauline Tallman and her husband Kurt Tallman. Frederick was a loving grandfather to Angelina Dougherty Wright, Christine Tallman, Brian Tallman, Joshua Tallman, Josiah Tallman, Sarah Dougherty, and Shane Dougherty. He was also a great-grandfather to James Tucker Paris and Stella Dougherty.

Fred spent most of his time outside in his yard enjoying the sunshine or riding on his riding lawn mower. He was an avid collector of everything from guns and knives to old coins and antiques. He considered himself a cowboy and saw every episode of Gunsmoke. He enjoyed NASCAR, golfing, hunting and fishing. He was a real outdoorsman.

Most of all he loved his family. He has gone to join his earthly father, William Lawrence Dougherty and his mother Beatrice Dougherty and his brothers and sisters who have gone before him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is now in his heavenly father's home, with the knowledge of Jesus Christ's saving Grace.

A visitation for Frederick will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Following the visitation, a chapel service will occur at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
