Felipe Pascua Viado

Felipe Pascua Viado passed away at 91 years of age on December 5, 2024. As a proud Navy Veteran of 30 years, a retired chef, and the head of a beautiful family, Felipe’s legacy lives on through the many memories left behind and the people he loved.

Felipe was born in San Quintin, Pangasinan, Philippines on September 13, 1933 to Anselmo Viado and Juliana Pascua. Felipe grew to value family and education, and when his eldest brother was called to military service, Felipe chose to leave high school and return to assist his family in maintaining the farm. After petition, he was rewarded his graduation honors.

As a young man Felipe sought to improve his life and joined the United States Navy. He became the favorite Chef and close friend of many Admirals, sharing many gambling and fishing adventures. Felipe met the love of his life, Leonor Pacheco, in Puerto Rico and there they married on August 7, 1965. Together they would build a family and settle in Jacksonville, Florida in 1975 at his final duty station.

After retirement as a chef, he continued to cook and host holidays for family and friends. He spent his time fishing, gardening, telling stories past from his childhood and the Navy, all paired with a cold beer in hand. He made it known, the pride and joy, he had for his family. Felipe is now reunited with his beloved Leonor in Heaven. He is survived by his daughter (Millie Viado), his son (Nolan Viado), his grandson (Michael Anthony Edgecomb), and his great granddaughter (Harper Mae Edgecomb).

A Graveside Service with Navy Honors will take on January 3, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL, 32218. There will be a Celebration of Life on January 3, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL, 32205.
