Faye Maurine Day, age 90, passed away at Wyndham Lakes Assisted Living on Friday, October 30, 2020.
Faye was proceed in death by her husband of 65 years, Richard Lee Day Jr. and son, Danny O. Day. She leaves behind her daughter, Linda M. Day, and four grandchildren, John A. Farmer, Erin Day Farmer, Jenny Day Hoag and Raymond Thomas Day, her brother Raymond Robertson and brother-in-law Edwin Day.
A bride at sixteen, to a seventeen year old sailor, they faced many challenges together and were successful against all odds. Her motto was “never say can’t and never give up”. A young mother of two, contracting polio during the second pregnancy which she overcame, was left to keep the home fires burning during deployments. It was in those times she “did it all” and did it well. She dedicated herself to her family. Life was her teacher.
Having never graduated she got her GED when the children were themselves in high school and enrolled to study cosmetology. This was her time to turn another page and one that would provide her with a wonderful career in the industry, owning her own successful business, until she retired at the age of 75.
Faye was the consummate home maker, gifted seamstress and loved to entertain and travel. She had a love of gardening and birds became her entertainment. Nothing made her happier than watching the ducks parade outside her window and the assortment of birds to visit her feeder.
A private burial will be held at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, at an undetermined date. This will allow Faye and Richard to be together again at their final resting place.
